NISAM NA TO NAVIKAO
Hadi Kuric

I'M NOT USED TO THIS
by Hadi Kuric

"I'm not used to this" - jokingly tell my dear Bane whether here among us, he could discuss his own departure from this world. Always friendly and attentive, Bane has a particular sense of humor, a humor that makes you laugh out loud but it makes you feel better and smile. As a healing balm, so is he. I remember like it was yesterday, although this over forty years ago, the holy patience with Bane, a friend of the family, taught me to fish or play the guitar, an instrument he played excellently indeed. All the time we met, Bane - Maja father, husband Mima, musician, actor-puppeteer, designer and technical director, I've never heard him raise the tone and even less into a protracted conflict. He solves the problems quietly, without overacting, so typical of the people who exercise our profession of theatrical. No letting coax brings forth all that has decided to take no excess words or role with ease, safety and consistency. What builds Bane is well done, it is strong and stable, like himself. More than twenty years, playing the role of Don Quixote, I get on Rocinante, a horse whose foam structure composed Bane with his own hands and I still feel safe in it because I know that, build it, never give in. I have worked with Bane on more than one occasion. Actor made a "duet" with Mima Jankovic representing a Minister with split personality in one of my first address in the show The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi in Nis, Yugoslavia. After that, we moved to Spain, Bane has made excellent scenery in collaboration with Mima and Maya for several shows I have directed or produced. It is a careful and precise creator, always determined to do everything with the highest quality possible. He has not considered that is in this world to create problems but to resolvérnoslos all; He did not cover the sun with your ego but worked for the show, for all and good win. People so scarce. And a lot.
Bane Jankovic, dramatic remarkable artist, fell in love with the art of puppetry in 1964 and in 1974, with his wife Mima Jankovic, founded Phoenix Puppet Scene in Nis, one of the first private companies in Yugoslavia. During the decades of its existence, this company has traveled more than 1,700,000 km. And has represented 4,000 shows in 900 municipalities of all sizes in Yugoslavia, Spain, Poland, Bulgaria, Sweden and Libya. His performances have been seen by over a million viewers. Bane is co-author and producer of several series for children on television in Novi Sad, Pristina and Sarajevo. He has performed, he has created sets and music for dozens of shows. It was one of the founders of children's theaters in several cities in Serbia and Kragujevac, Krusevac, Kraljevo, Leskovac, Zajecar. As co-author of the Phoenix theater is awarded a score of major awards in former Yugoslavia: three awards at the PIF festival of Zagreb, two awards at the Biennial of Puppet Theatre, two awards from the city of Nis, the Fair Prize of Professional Theatres of Serbia and the Zmaj Award popularize and promote children's literature in the "Zmajeve Decije Igre" festival in Novi Sad.
We are talking about data, we list awards and honors but the importance of the contribution of Bane is just as difficult to quantify. They can not be listed in an article like this all smiles, thoughts and dreams that their work has resulted in the heads of children who watched the shows in which he has participated as a key. Generations have grown up watching these works and just this contribution, the most important, you can not enumerate. However, all who knew him are aware of the magnitude of the impact of his work and that makes us happy and fills us with pride.
It is not right to speak of Bane in the past, and not just because the form of a letter of this nature so discouraged, but because we share with him the world know that in our memory and in the history of puppetry, Bane Jankovic will live forever.

BANE JANKOVIC, CREATION AND AUSTERITY
by Antonio Gascó

Bane, husband of Mima and father of Maya-Marja Jankovic, after suffering with courage and selfless silence a difficult disease, left us on Friday, leaving mourning the world scene and the visual arts and of course, also to music, because our man with his guitar, singing knew life with a feeling born from within, where the postulates of the most exhilarating emotions of existence and the human feelings are assumed effusive. The three came to this land from his native Serbia, conducting a commendable artistic activity that had a very plural projection in animation theater, dance and visual arts.Bane, Mima and Maya were a united family group and artistically, in which each assumed his role, while, at any time, be linked to others. But if mother and daughter were outside their group image animation or art scenery, Bane was the reflection, action, selfless work, without ever seeking recognition. Their dignity and manhood well manifested in humility and to require only the only reward that provided self-satisfaction of a job well done.A great artist here in its withdrawal and modesty prevented him to be recognized that the high level deserved as creator and architect. All life dedicated to art and theater, with its founder was one of the most recognized groups in Serbia as was Phoenix wife. The theatrical spirit of the bond with the audience and production spaces to locate the scenes made him especially imaginative and creative and also very observant. In fact, Bane was a free man, a citizen of the world who are enraptured contemplating and reflecting on the realities of all kinds, everywhere offered existence. A man committed to his freedom and that of others, not recognizing the borders of the world. The only borders were closed to our artist who put his men intercepted link to others. Rest in peace.
